Here at Sunday Brunch, I've been lamenting just how much artists nowadays are trying their damnedest to mime Deion Sanders. Whereas "Neon" Deion excelled in both football and baseball, to varying degrees, singers, rappers, actors and now even comedians just won't and can't stay in their own lane. And frankly, their hurting the game.
I lay odds that your favorite rapper has allusions of crooning like Usher. Odds are half of them have given it a go at some time or another, with varying degrees of success. There was Jah Rule, then 50 and eventually along came the El Debarge of this Raping Rapping/Singing phenomena, Drizzy Drake. Drake's album is a R&B album soundtrack For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf , IMO but that's a conversation for another time.
It's no surprise now that comedians are getting in the mix. Comedian Kevin Hart parodies rap battles for one of his latest Youtube videos. As rapper Chocolate Drop, Hart enlists, Mr.CrackleVoice, T-Pain to rip off the incredibly funny rap battle parodies of @deshawnraw and not even very well done rips. But that's beside the point. It's just the latest example of the Neo Deion fantasy artists are carrying around these days.
And you think Justin Bieber getting gassed up by these buffoons at morning radio shows is just fun? Naw, son. Expect that Bieber rap album in 2013. It's gonna sell 5 mil. These rap parody videos are just Hart testing the waters for a full on rap career move. Take Katt Williams...please. Expect the Kevin Hart album in 2013, also. You heard it here first.
